You have a schedule. Working out three times this week. Maybe four.
And one time you fly through your workout. Everything feels light.
And yet…
👉 the other time you drag yourself to the gym and every weight feels impossibly heavy.
Same exercises. Same weight. Completely different body.
And soon you think:
👉 "I've gotten lazy" or "I'm losing my fitness."
But that's not true.
You haven't gotten less fit
This is important:
You're not weak.
You don't lack discipline.
You're not losing your fitness.
Your hormones are moving. And moving along with them are:
- how much strength you have
- how fast you recover
- how much you feel like moving
Your body isn't a machine that delivers the same output every day. You're cyclical.
Why the same workout sometimes feels heavy
Your body doesn't give you the same fuel every week.
In one phase you can push hard, lift heavy and move intensely. You recover fast and you feel motivated.
In another phase your body asks for softness and rest instead.
If you train full throttle during that softer phase anyway, it feels like swimming against the current.
Not because you're weak.
But because your timing is off.
How to move with your cycle
Week 1, menstrual phase (days 1-5): Your energy is low, and that's okay. Choose walking, gentle yoga, stretching or light mobility work. Listen to your body and don't force anything.
Week 2, follicular phase (days 6-13): Your estrogen rises and so does your energy. This is your week to build: strength training, trying something new, a more intense class. You recover faster than usual.
Week 3, ovulation (days 14-15): Your peak week. You're at your strongest. Plan your heaviest workouts, your personal records and your most intense sessions here.
Week 4, luteal phase (days 16+): Your energy declines gradually. Choose a calmer pace: steady cardio, lower-intensity strength training and more attention to recovery and rest.
What you can do right away
- Track which phase you're in (CycleGlow does this automatically)
- Plan your heaviest workouts around your follicular and ovulation phases
- Use your menstrual and luteal weeks for recovery, without guilt
- See a weaker workout as information, not as failure
From forcing it to moving with it
Most women train linearly. Same schedule every week, same expectations.
But you're not linear. You're cyclical.
When you move with your phases, your body works for you instead of against you.
You don't train harder.
You train smarter.
How CycleGlow helps with this
The tricky part is: in the moment, you often don't know which phase you're in. You just feel that a workout is hard or easy, without knowing why.
That's where CycleGlow comes in.
The app shows you at a glance:
- which phase you're in today
- which days your energy is high, so you can plan your heaviest workouts wisely
- when your body is asking for recovery, so you can ease off without guilt
That way you no longer have to guess. You match your workouts to what your body can really handle that week.
👉 Moving with your cycle, instead of against it.
